Hip hop artists absolutely dominated the list.
YouTube launched its most popular and most viewed video playlists in 2019, and the Most Viewed Music Videos list (USA) is packed with the most important hip hop hits this year. Receiving first place for the most viewed music video in the US is Lil Nas X 's “Old Town Road” clip for his infamous Billy Ray Cyrus remix. These two also won the # 5 spot on the Western-inspired "Official Movie" look, which featured guest star Chris Rock, Rico Nasty, Vince Staples and Diplo.
DaBaby arrives at Lil Nas at number 2 for the official music video for his hit "Suge (Yea Yea)". Yo Gotti and Lil Baby claim number 3 for "Put A Date On It" video, while Polo G and Lil Tjay claim number 4 for Ryan Lynch's "Pop Out" visual produced by JDONTHATRACK & Iceberg.
Hip hop domination doesn't end in the top 5, however. Offset and Cardi B's “Clout” video is in 6th place, while 21 Savage & J. Cole's “A Lot” is outdated and appears in 8th position. Billie Eilish appears in 7th with "Bandit". The hint of pop music continues with Ariana Grande's “7 Touch” at number 9, although there were claims that music and video copied hip hop flow and culture in many ways. The tenth and last place in the top 10 list goes to Daddy Yankee & Snow for his collaboration “Con Calma”.
While content such as YouTube's Beauty Tutorials and Challenges ranks on the most popular video list, which takes into account factors such as a video's likes and comments, searches, and views, there was one important hip-hop video that made The List: Soulja Boy's now infamous appearance at The Breakfast Club in January. Soulja talks about Drake , Kanye and Tyga in the viral video, which racked up over 18 million views and counted and won the eighth most popular YouTube video in 2019.
