Justin Bieber says he's not back on Instagram, new posts were 'an accident'

Has Justin Bieber returned to Instagram after abandoning his nearly 78 million followers there in mid-August? Despite the appearance of four posts placed there without fanfare a week ago, the pop star says no.

"Still no Instagram it was an accident," the singer, 22, tweeted Monday.

Whether the two new images and two new videos were posted by Bieber himself or, possibly, without authorization by a social-media manager, Bieber's Instagram remained visible Monday after having borne the standard Instagram message "Sorry, this page isn't available" two weeks ago.

This follows a Facebook post on Aug. 22, asking, "Should I or shouldn't I?" — a question fans took to mean should he or should he not reinstate his Instagram account.

The first of the new posts, each dated one week ago, replicates an Aug. 16 Facebook photo and message, showing himself holding a large beige-and-white puppy, with the caption "My new little fluff ball Todd." The second is a black-and-white close-up of a smiling man, evidently Ryan Friedlinghaus, founder and CEO of the automobile customizing company West Coast Customs.

The last two are brief dog videos featuring the puppy from the still image. The first, captioned "#Todd," shows the panting puppy in a room while an off-screen voice coos, "Are you even real? What are you?" and then laughing. The other shows an open door to an outdoor deck. As an off-screen voice makes a kissing sound and asks, "Todd. Where are you, Todd?," followed by another kissing sound, the dog ambles across the deck toward the door. "Hey, buddy," the voice says, and then after a pause whispers, "Hi, dude. What's goin' on?"

Bieber had shuttered his Instagram account after warning followers to stop posting highly derogatory comments attacking him and model Sofia Richie, 18. The two had been photographed together, including in Japan, for more than a week by that time. Before he left, he traded barbed commentary with former girlfriend Selena Gomez, 24, who expressed regret on Snapchat afterward, posting text reading, "What I said was selfish and pointless."
