And she's ... running like she's never run before

While looking up IMDB trivia for "Flashdance" (don't ask), I found this tidbit: "The hit song "Maniac" was originally intended for the film Maniac (1980), but was cut out. Soon after the lyrics were toned down and used for this movie."

No way! Can this be true? "Maniac" is a straight-up horror movie, apparently. I've never seen it, but I think I can make a judgment based on, oh, the poster of the guy carrying a bloody head.

Think of that image the next time you hear "Just a steel-town girl on a Saturday night."
