Well I've been busy painting more 30k Iron Warriors for a trip to Warhammer World in October, so i thought i'd share some of my recent progress on an army that i'm absolutely loving painting at the moment.
The Iron Circle Battle Automata is the first such model. As the test model for the unit i'm pretty happy with it. Overall the model is pretty easy to put together, but unlike the contemptor doesn't offer much in the way of flexibility in how the hips and legs are positioned, unless you start cutting and sculpting.
I've been sticking to my tried and tested method of painting my Iron Warriors, it works well for me, as an army I think it looks great, but individually they are probably not going to win any prizes. But still i'm pretty proud of them and i'll be sure to share an army shot in the next few weeks.
Next up is my Warsmith, or Kyr Vhalen stand in until Forgeworld produce a model for it. It's a simple kit bash between a Legion Praetor, Techmarine and volkite charger from the Forgeworld upgrade set. The rest went on a unit of terminators that i'll be sharing with you next week...
Again i've kept the paint scheme pretty simple, weathered him up, as I don't believe Iron Warriors should ever be clean or have enough time to clean their armour, and gave him a suitably thematic base. Pretty simple stuff but hopefully effective.
I've got to get 2000 points completed for October 9th when we take a trip over to Warhammer World for a day of Horus Heresy gaming on a feature table. I'm moving towards that steadily and most importantly really enjoying doing it. Considering this time last year i said i never wanted to paint another space marine, i find this quite remarkable!
If any of you are about at Warhammer World on the 9th then come over and say hello, and maybe we can get a game in.
Cheers,
Xach.
